Scholarship 2012

Togo , West Africa

World Togolese Foundation has a long history of successfully working with local partners to design, execute, manage and evaluate participatory, community-based initiatives to advance the conditions of orphans in Togo and that of young girls. Our Scholarship program will help girls enroll and stay in school and help women gain access to or create new educational, financial, and social resources in their communities.

Our goad is to help girls and women improve their own lives, the lives of their families and the conditions in the their communities. For parents - and especially mothers - this means creating conditions that ensure their daughters have equal access to basic education, are able to make informed decisions about their futures, and are able to protect themselves from trafficking, sexual exploitation, for example.

The education of girls reduces poverty and improves the quality of life for all citizens. Educating girls and women translates to higher economic opportunity and productivity, reduced child mortality, improved family nutrition and health, and increased prevention of HIV and AIDS.

By improving educational opportunities for girls, World Togolese Foundation will help girls develop skills that allow them to make decisions and influence community change in key areas. In turn, these programs have a positive impact on some of the most profound issues of our time: population growth, HIV and AIDS, peace and security, and the widening gap between the rich and poor.

The Scholarship program is open to any Togolese that meets the requirement. More details and the application form will be soon available. In the meantime, please take a moment to donate today.

Education is the key to a brighter future! To mitigate the scourge of girls’ illiteracy is to save the global citizen of tomorrow.

At the World Togolese Foundation, our approach is community-based in all projects we engage in, all project that we support as we foster initiatives based on true needs of local communities in Togo. Not only have we intensified the focus on connecting with resources available to educate the girls in Togo, we have also challenged, scrutinized and prioritized the Girls Scholarship program, and as simply as rewarding and saving today’s global community and the one of the future; as we believe it is worth pursuing.

Educating the most vulnerable global citizens-girls of Togo- and giving them the opportunities to grow and compete proudly with the global workforce more faster and quicker is not just about dollars and cents—it is the right thing for us to be doing. And we must start right now!

The surveys we designed and conducted prior to the implementation of this scholarship program proves that the gap is widen as families voluntarily choose not only to maximize effort in educating girls, but also the means to afford their girls education are yet to be available to them. This implicitly forces girls to early marriage, and any other conditions and options they may see as alternatives to sustain their own parents’ needs. Often times, these girls become the sole pillars to provide for their own parents.

At the World Togolese Foundation, we strive to help the girls of Togo by shifting the paradigm as we provide them with resources tailored to individual needs while being prudent and accountable for donation dollars.

Friends and members of the World Togolese Foundation have already generated solid ideas on how to successfully implement this program and we support their energy and vision.

We are currently seeking $24000 to carry out the scholarship program and YOUR donations COUNT! With your support and effort, we can make it happen! It is a winning proposition for all.
